The Clinical Lead Physician- Weight Management and Metabolic Health, provides clinical leadership, program development, and direct patient care focused on obesity, metabolic health, and weight-related conditions across the lifespan. This role emphasizes evidence-based medical weight management, hormonal and reproductive-metabolic interplay, and integration of obesity care into patient health services. Delivers compassionate, patient-centered care and supports collaborating providers, ensures safe, high-quality treatment delivery leveraging clinical experience in obesity medicine and metabolic care.
Job Duties:
Provide comprehensive medical weight management services, including:

Obesity evaluation and staging

Pharmacologic obesity treatment (e.g., GLP-1s, dual agonists, adjunctive therapies)

Management of metabolic comorbidities (prediabetes, PCOS-related insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, hypertension)

Perimenopausal and postpartum weight management
-
Conduct risk assessments related to reproductive health, hormonal factors, and weight-related conditions
Clinical Leadership

Serve as clinical subject matter lead for obesity and metabolic care

Develop and maintain evidence-based treatment protocols, care pathways, and prescribing guidelines

Provide clinical guidance to NPs, PAs, RNs, and support staff managing weight management patients

Participate in case reviews and interdisciplinary care discussions

Support quality assurance initiatives and outcome tracking
Program Development

Assist in building and refining WHA's weight management program

Identify gaps in care and recommend service enhancements
-
Support integration of behavioral health, nutrition, and lifestyle services
-
Contribute to patient education materials and program resources
Compliance & Safety

Adhere to all prescribing regulations and monitoring standards

Maintain documentation consistent with payer, regulatory, and quality standards

Support safe use monitoring of anti-obesity medications

Complete continuing education and continuous learning, and participate in privileging, recertification, and quality improvement initiatives.

Education & Experience

MD or DO from an accredited institution

Board certification preferred, but not required

Valid DEA certificate

Minimum 5-8 years of clinical experience managing obesity or metabolic disease

Demonstrated experience treating weight-related conditions
-
Strong knowledge of obesity pharmacotherapy and metabolic risk management

Fellowship, focused training, or substantial CME in obesity medicine, metabolic health, or endocrinology-related care

Experience working in team-based care models

Certification in Obesity Medicine (ABOM) preferred but not required

Meets all criteria required of participating physicians in health plans and government health

programs designated by WHA.
