We are seeking a New York State licensed veterinary technician (part-time or full-time) for Avian and Exotics to join our team at our full-service exotics-only animal hospital (no cats and dogs)! Work with four full-time doctors and experienced support staff. We are ideally looking for someone with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and great communication skills.Your responsibilities would include:
- Client communication and education
- Assisting veterinarians with exams/procedures
- Venipuncture
- Administering medications (injectable, topical, oral)
- Nursing care
- Obtain laboratory samples, run in-house tests, and send samples to outside labs
- Diagnostic imaging
- Anesthesia and surgical monitoring
- Patient monitoring and post-op recovery
- Filling prescriptions and reviewing medications with clients
- Recording patient history in medical records
- Providing compassionate exotic pet care

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The technician must be able to multi-task. They must be able to think quickly on their feet. They must be able to develop positive working relationships with clients and co-workers.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of New York is required. We will also consider students currently enrolled in a veterinary technician program for this position.
