American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Post Surgical PACU travel position in Shreveport, LA, requiring AHA-certified BLS, ACLS, and PALS/ENPC with at least 1 year of PACU or perioperative experience.

Post Surgical PACU unit in a hospital setting
-
Diverse patient population ranging from neonates to geriatric; typical cases include orthopedics, general surgery, vascular, ENT, urology, and breast reconstruction

Must be able to care for critical care-level patients requiring transfer to an ICU

Primary shift is 11:30 AM–8:00 PM, Monday–Friday, with flexibility to work various shifts as needed (e.g., 7:15 AM–3:45 PM, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, 9:30 AM–6:00 PM, 6:00 AM–6:00 PM)

Active LA RN license or compact RN license required

BLS, ACLS, and PALS or ENPC certifications required — all must be AHA-issued and current (not expired)

Minimum 1 year of PACU or perioperative nursing experience

Perioperative RN Residency or recent OR/perioperative experience preferred

BSN preferred

US Social Security Number required for consideration

Two professional references required for consideration

Provides nursing care using the full nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for post-surgical patients

Administers medications and treatments per protocol, monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness

Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families

Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care delivered

Provides patient and family education, identifying learning needs and appropriate resources

All newly hired experienced RNs must complete New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days

New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member, with competency validation completed during onboarding

Ongoing annual competency verification is required

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
