Duties
- Conduct thorough psychiatric assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and intake interviews via secure telehealth platforms for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating psychopharmacology, psychotherapy (including cognitive behavioral therapy and psychodynamic therapy), and crisis management strategies.
- Provide evidence-based mental health counseling for conditions such as PTSD, addiction, developmental disabilities, and behavioral health disorders across outpatient and inpatient settings.
- Monitor patient progress through regular follow-up appointments, adjusting medications and therapy approaches as needed while adhering to DEA regulations for controlled substances.
- Document all clinical encounters accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR/EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA privacy standards and medical documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including healthcare providers, social workers, and case managers to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Stay current with health regulation policies, clinical best practices, and emerging research to continually enhance service quality.
Qualifications
- Medical degree (MD or DO) with board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
- Must be licensed in New York
- Valid medical license to practice psychiatry in the applicable jurisdiction; DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
- Proven experience working with children, adults, and geriatric populations in outpatient or inpatient settings; post-residency experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of psychiatric diagnosis, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy modalities (including cognitive behavioral therapy), and crisis intervention techniques.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, PTSD care, addiction counseling, and behavioral health conditions.
- Familiarity with telehealth platforms (EMR/EHR systems), medical records management, and healthcare diagnosis procedures.
- Excellent patient assessment skills combined with compassionate communication abilities; ability to work independently within a team environment.
- Knowledge of health regulation policies related to telemedicine practice and drug enforcement regulations (DEA).
