Duties
- Assist lead teachers in implementing daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy education, math activities, and social skills development.
- Support classroom management by maintaining a positive environment that encourages respectful behavior and active participation among children.
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote early childhood education principles such as Montessori or other developmental frameworks.
- Help supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, meal times, nap times, and transitions to ensure safety and well-being.
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by implementing individualized strategies for behavior management and inclusive learning.
- Assist with classroom organization, including preparing materials for lessons and maintaining a clean, inviting learning space.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding children’s progress, behaviors, and developmental milestones.
- Collaborate with team members to develop curriculum enhancements that support literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills.
- Support toddlers’ care routines and contribute to a nurturing daycare environment that emphasizes early childhood development principles.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities related to early childhood education, special education strategies, or working with children with autism.
Skills
- Strong understanding of childhood development theories and practices relevant to preschool-aged children.
- Experience working with young children in daycare, preschool, private school settings or similar environments.
- Knowledge of special education needs and strategies for working effectively with children with disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
- Proficiency in lesson planning tailored to early childhood curricula such as Montessori or other progressive educational approaches.
- Excellent classroom management skills to foster a respectful, engaging learning environment.
- Ability to implement behavior management techniques that promote positive social interactions and emotional regulation.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with colleagues and engaging families positively.
- Experience supporting literacy education and foundational math concepts through playful learning activities.
- Familiarity with toddler care routines including feeding, diapering (where applicable), and nap schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with diverse groups of children and adults in fast-paced settings.
