About Us
We are a family-owned business that values close teamwork and community relationship. We lean heavily into the medical and wellness side of the industry, focusing on how cannabis can genuinely help our community members. Because of this, we expect our people to be highly educated, passionate about the science of the plant, and ready to share that knowledge with both our team and our customers. We bring qualified candidates onto our team who align with these same values and want to contribute to the success of a close-knit, community-driven shop.
Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized, professional, and compliance-driven Retail Store Manager to oversee daily operations at our Wasilla location. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of cannabis science, and an uncompromised commitment to state and local regulations.
As the Store Manager, you will lead a dedicated team of budtenders, manage inventory purchasing and vendor relations, drive sales performance, and ensure every customer experiences exceptional, educational service in a welcoming and compliant environment. You will report directly to the District Manager and ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Ordering & Purchasing: Manage the store's product purchasing lifecycle. Analyze sales trends, anticipate customer demand, and place orders with cultivators and processors to maintain an optimal, diverse, and high-moving inventory matrix that aligns with our wellness-focused philosophy.
- Vendor Relations: Build and maintain strong professional relationships with Alaska-licensed cannabis vendors. Negotiate pricing, coordinate delivery schedules, and manage product intake processes.
- Team Leadership & Education: Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and motivate a professional retail team. Ensure all staff members are thoroughly educated on cannabinoids, terpenes, and cannabis/CBD science so they can provide high-level consultations to customers.
- Daily Operations: Oversee all front-of-house and back-of-house dispensary operations, ensuring the sales floor is clean, fully stocked, and visually appealing.
- Compliance & Regulation: Strict adherence to all Alaska Alcohol & Marijuana Control Office (AMCO) regulations, Alaska Statutes Title 17, and 3 AAC 306. Ensure 100% compliance with age verification, daily purchase limits, manifest tracking, and seed-to-sale metrics.
- Inventory Control: Maintain precise inventory accuracy. Oversee product intake, regular physical audits, discrepancy resolution, and menu synchronization.
- Customer Experience: Drive top-tier, consultative customer service. Resolve customer inquiries enthusiastically and maintain up-to-date physical and digital menus.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Age: Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Licensing: Must possess a valid, active Alaska State Marijuana Handler Permit prior to starting employment.
- Background Check: Must be able to pass a comprehensive criminal background check pursuant to state regulatory requirements.
- Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of retail management experience (cannabis industry management strongly preferred, but high-volume hospitality, bar, or traditional retail management with inventory-purchasing responsibilities will be considered).
- Cannabis Knowledge: Strong foundation in cannabis science, product types, and consumption methods. A dedication to continuous industry education is required.
- Skills: Strong proficiency with cannabis POS systems, Metrc (or state-approved seed-to-sale software), and basic office software (Excel/Word). Proven experience in inventory forecasting, product ordering, and vendor management.
- Availability: Flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Physical Demands: Ability to stand or sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
