Mechanical Designer/Drafter

G&G Technologies designs and manufactures custom process equipment and machinery. We are seeking a hands-on Mechanical Designer/Drafter who can turn engineering concepts and customer requirements into accurate, fabrication-ready designs.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or equivalent experience in mechanical design, drafting, or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in mechanical design or drafting within a manufacturing, fabrication, or machine-building environment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for part and assembly modeling and fabrication drawings.
- Experience with sheet metal, frame weldments, machined components, and purchased hardware.
- Ability to read and create mechanical drawings, bills of materials, and assembly documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Experience with P&IDs, process equipment, sanitary tubing, electrical schematics, CAM programming, or regulated industries is helpful but not required.
Job Summary
The Mechanical Designer/Drafter will support Project Engineers and the fabrication team by creating 3D models, equipment layouts, general arrangement drawings, fabrication drawings, assembly drawings, and bills of materials.
Projects may range from individual components and brackets to complete frames, carts, skids, and integrated equipment systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop SolidWorks models and drawings for parts, assemblies, sheet metal components, and weldments.
- Prepare fabrication, assembly, and general arrangement drawings.
- Create and maintain bills of materials, cut lists, and drawing packages.
- Convert sketches, specifications, measurements, and engineering direction into practical designs.
- Coordinate with engineers, fabricators, machinists, assemblers, and outside vendors.
- Review designs for accuracy, manufacturability, fit, access, and serviceability.
- Revise drawings based on design reviews, fabrication feedback, and as-built conditions.
- Support the shop floor during fabrication, assembly, and equipment testing.
- Maintain organized project files, part numbers, and drawing revisions.
This position combines office-based mechanical design with regular interaction on the manufacturing floor.
The Mechanical Designer/Drafter must be comfortable inspecting equipment, taking measurements, discussing fabrication methods with shop personnel, and supporting projects during assembly and testing.
Some projects may require occasional customer-site visits, vendor visits, or field measurements.
Pay: $25.00 - $39.22 per hour
