Position Summary
The Inventory Control Associate plays a key role in keeping our warehouse inventory accurate, organized, and reliable. This role performs daily cycle counts, investigates and resolves discrepancies, and partners closely with Purchasing, Receiving, Shipping, and Returns to ensure our system inventory always reflects what's on the shelf — so our team can serve locksmiths and security professionals with speed and accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Accuracy
- Perform daily cycle counts.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Maintain inventory accuracy above company target (98%+).
- Monitor negative inventory balances.
- Verify inventory transactions are completed correctly.
- Reconcile physical inventory with system inventory.
- Assist with annual physical inventory counts.
Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages.
- Identify overstock and slow-moving inventory.
- Maintain proper inventory locations.
- Ensure products are stored in designated bin locations.
- Update inventory records in the ERP/WMS system.
Warehouse Organization
- Maintain clean and organized inventory areas.
- Ensure shelves and bins are properly labeled.
- Identify damaged inventory for review.
- Assist with warehouse organization projects.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare inventory variance reports.
- Track inventory accuracy KPIs.
- Report recurring inventory issues and trends.
- Recommend process improvements to reduce errors.
Cross-Functional Support
- Work with Purchasing, Receiving, Shipping, and Returns to resolve inventory issues.
- Assist with training team members on inventory control procedures and best practices.
- Cross-train across departments to support broader warehouse operations as needed.
Qualifications
The following reflect a typical candidate profile for this role — adjust as needed:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 1–2 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse, or logistics preferred.
- Experience with ERP/WMS systems preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel; comfortable with data entry and basic reporting.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, filters, formulas)
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to lift up to [50] lbs. and stand/walk for extended periods in a warehouse environment.
- Clear communicator who works well cross-functionally with other departments.
- Forklift or pallet jack certification a plus (or willingness to obtain).
- Must be able to pass a background check
