Job Title:
Part-time Weekend Counselor
Summary:
Provides intake assessments, therapeutic, and case management services for individuals, groups, and families receiving substance use disorder treatment services. Works with other clinicians and paraprofessional staff to deliver therapeutic services as assigned. Reports to the Clinical Director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provides substance use disorder counseling to clients at the PHP/IOP/OP/ levels of care as assigned; develops treatment plans, discharge plans, and continuing care plans for assigned caseload; provides therapeutic crisis intervention and case management services as required.
· Collects data about patients through clinical interview, case history, and observational techniques; evaluates data to identify causes of problems and to determine proper therapeutic approach or referral to other specialists.
· Provides therapeutic interventions as appropriate for clients in a crisis.
· Follows-up to determine reliability and validity of treatment used; makes recommendations regarding modification to services and service delivery.
· Consults with other legal and treatment agencies and individuals in relation to client records, rights, and responsibilities.
· Consults with other therapists and related professional and paraprofessional staff, as appropriate, in the performance of therapeutic and/or casework; refers clients to appropriate service agencies as required.
· May participate in off-site recovery activities
· Participates in the review of clinical issues and program policies and procedures.
· May lead paraprofessionals in performance of clinical duties.
· Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
· Minimum active Alcohol and Drug Trainee status in good standing, CSC-AD, CAC-AD
· Bachelor’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field strongly preferred.
· Active Maryland licensure required.
· Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
o Ability to apply substance use disorder counseling methods and techniques.
o Knowledge of community mental health and substance use disorder resources.
o Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.
o Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures.
o Knowledge of case management.
o Knowledge and understanding of clinical counseling principles, programs and methodology.
o Interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills.
o Knowledge and understanding of clinical social work and mental health counseling principles, methods, procedures, and standards strongly preferred.
o Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic programs and to make individual modifications.
o Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.
o Knowledge of legal and ethical issues related to patients' rights.
o Ability to work well with patients and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and skill levels
Job Types: Part-time
Salary: $24 to $30 per hour
