Job Summary
As the shift leader in an automotive parts plant, directly manage production operators to achieve safety, quality, and efficiency targets. Requires expertise in automotive processes (assembly, welding injection), lean tools (5S, SOP), and rapid problem-solving to ensure seamless production flow across shifts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Production Execution
- Oversee daily operations to meet output goals, monitor real time metrics (hourly output, downtime).
- Escalate and resolve line issues (equipment breakdowns, material shortages).
2. Quality Control
- Conduct first-article inspections (FAI) and in-process checks per IATF 16949 standards.
- Document defects (e.g., weld spatter, dimensional issues) and support corrective actions.
3. Team Leadership
- Manage operator performance, conduct shift meetings, and enforce attendance policies.
- Train new hires on SOPs and safety protocols, promote cross-training initiatives.
4. Lean Improvement
- Lead Kaizen events to reduce changeover time (SMED) and improve line balancing.
- Analyze OEE data and propose efficiency enhancements.
5. Safety Compliance
- Ensure OSHA compliance (PPE, LOTO), report near misses, and conduct safety walkthroughs.
- Maintain 5S standards (tool organization, waste disposal) in production areas.
6. Reporting
- Complete shift reports (output, scrap, labor hours) and submit to Production Manager.
- Input real-time data into MES for traceability and accuracy.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (experience may substitute); technical degree preferred.
- Experience: 3+ years in manufacturing supervision; automotive stamping/welding experience preferred.
- Certifications: Lean Yellow Belt, OSHA 30-Hour preferred.
Skills:
- Proficient in MES, Andon systems; basic data analysis;
- Bilingual (English/Mandarin) for technical documentation and team communication.
- Fluent in English, and those with the ability to speak Spanish and Chinese are preferred.
- Attributes: Hands-on problem solver, adaptable to shift rotations and high-pressure environments.
Additional Information
- Rotating shifts required (days/evenings/nights).
