Job Overview
Fuji at Newton is looking for a friendly, organized, and energetic Host/Hostess to be the welcoming face of our restaurant. As the first and last person our guests interact with, you'll play an important role in creating an exceptional dining experience from the moment they walk through our doors.
In addition to greeting and seating guests, you'll help coordinate reservations, answer phones, and ensure all takeout orders are accurately packed and prepared for pickup. Responsibilities
- Welcome guests with a warm, friendly, and professional attitude.
- Manage reservations and waitlists using the restaurant's reservation and table management system.
- Coordinate seating to maximize guest satisfaction and efficient table turnover.
- Answer incoming phone calls professionally, assisting guests with reservations, wait times, and general inquiries.
- Provide guests with information regarding menu items, daily specials, and restaurant policies.
- Accurately pack and verify takeout and delivery orders, ensuring food quality, completeness, and proper presentation before guests or delivery drivers depart.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and service staff to ensure timely preparation of dine-in and takeout orders.
- Process guest check-ins and assist with basic POS functions.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming host stand and entrance area.
- Assist with opening and closing host duties as assigned.
- Support fellow team members to ensure an outstanding guest experience.
Qualifications
- Previous restaurant host/hostess or customer service experience is preferred, but we are happy to train motivated individuals.
- Friendly, outgoing personality with a genuine passion for hospitality.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to remain calm and professional during busy service periods.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with POS or reservation systems are a plus.
- Attention to detail, especially when packing and verifying takeout orders.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
