As a Cottage Parent, in coordination with your Cottage Manager, will be responsible for the daily safety, supervision and guidance of youth living in your cottage. In addition to providing day-to-day care, you will need to be understanding and offer support as well as guidance during crisis and celebration. You will provide a stable environment for youth in a home-like setting and work to build trusting relationships. Flexibility and patience are a must as you nurture the spiritual, emotional, education and physical well-being of youth in your care. Training and support is provided by the Free Will Baptist Children’s Home direct care team, but a teachable and coachable mindset is a requirement. Meals and private in-cottage lodging provided during shifts.
Schedule Repeats Every 2 Weeks (Work 24 hr. shifts beginning at 8:30 AM on 1st day of shift)
Week 1: Monday-Tuesday (ends 8:30 AM Wednesday),
Friday- Sunday (ends 8:30 AM Monday)
Week 2: Wednesday-Thursday (ends 8:30 AM Friday)
Individual Requirements:
· 21 years of age with a valid NC driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
· Pass drug screening.
· Pass background check.
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· Work with youth from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
· Basic cooking skills desired.
· Previous experience working with youth desired, but will consider the right candidate without previous experience in the field.
