Summary of Responsibilities
The Lead Mental Health Technician (MHT) plays a vital role on the team at Headwaters Behavioral Health’s new Children’s Residential Treatment Facility. Working with adolescents ages 12–17, the Lead MHT helps foster a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment that supports each patient’s growth and recovery.
In addition to providing direct patient care, the Lead MHT serves as the primary liaison for the MHT team, promoting effective communication, coordination, and day-to-day leadership. This role requires patience, critical thinking, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to make sound decisions in a dynamic environment.
Drawing on their knowledge and experience, the Lead MHT provides trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate care while considering each patient’s age, mental and behavioral health history, and cultural background. Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Two (2) years of as a direct care worker in an inpatient or outpatient Mental/ Behavioral Health facility in a leadership position.
- Obtain and maintain current BLS CPR.
- Ability to confidently work with youth and adolescent populations.
- Ability to achieve a high level of cleanliness & safety throughout designated areas.
- A licensed driver with an automobile that is in good working order to get to and from work in various weather conditions to ensure reliability.
