Responsibilities:
Under limited supervision of the Director of Human Resources the Assistant Director manages the administration of highly complex human resources programs for a major state agency with approximately 1200 employees, including permanent, temporary grant, time-limited and temporary-hourly positions. The role oversees payroll management, benefits management, leave administration, and related operational and compensation functions associated with the areas.

You will direct the payroll management function to ensure compliance with state and agency requirements. This will include integrated areas such as time and leave administration which impact a successful payroll outcome and collaborating with other human resources areas as needed.

You will direct the management of the benefits function to ensure compliance with state and agency requirements. This will include programs such as health, retirement, FMLA, parental leave, and coordination of arrears payments.

You will assess and recommend implementation of enhancements and modifications to existing functional areas to improve accuracy and efficiency.

You will collaborate with the human resources team to assess and evaluate processes to increase efficiency to provide a responsive and effective human resources program for the agency.

You will manage the EEO data and reporting requirements established by the state.

Manage the agency telecommuting program according to established requirements and state compliance.
