Pay: $20.00 per hour
Job description:
Make a Difference Outdoors: P/T Seasonal Mowing/Lawncare - Independent Contractors/Individuals
Do you love the smell of fresh-cut grass and the satisfaction of a job well done? Senior Community Services (SCS) is looking for energetic, community-minded individuals to join our team for the remainder of the mowing/lawncare season (Full season = May to October).
This isn't just a mowing job—it’s a chance to be a local hero. By maintaining the yards of our SCS H.O.M.E. Program participants (all 60+), you'll not only be helping your assigned seniors remain in their homes and avoid sanctions/citations, but also to have pride in properties and offer a friendly connection needed to thrive.
Why You’ll Love This Role:
- Be Your Own Boss: Build a flexible schedule that fits your life.
- Pay: Earn $20.00 per hour while staying active and enjoying the sunshine.
- Instant Impact: We assign and connect you with your clients (number based on need/location/your capacity); you schedule with them directly to provide high-quality lawn care that keeps them smiling.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Visit assigned homes approximately every 7–10 days to keep lawns looking sharp.
- Provide trimming to give each yard that "finished" look.
- Check in with participants to brighten their day and coordinate your next visit.
What You Bring to the Team:
- The Gear: You have a reliable gas or battery powered push lawn mower, weed trimmer/whacker, and dependable vehicle with the capacity to transport this equipment to your assigned clients to provide service.
- The Drive: You’re 18+ years old and physically ready to tackle outdoor work (lifting 20+ lbs., bending, and walking).
- The Reliability: You’re committed to the rest of the season and comfortable passing a background check.
- The Connection: Great communication skills—whether it’s a friendly chat with a senior or a quick update via email or text. You must have a cell phone with voicemail and texting capability.
Job Type: Seasonal
Benefits:
Work Location: In person
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Application Question(s):
- Do you have a cell phone and voicemail, are you able to text, and do you have/use email regularly? These are all requirements of the position.
- Which of the following 4 areas in Hennepin County would you prefer to service? (You may also list specific cities/suburbs within these areas.)
Area 1: Brooklyn Center, Brooklyn Park, Maple Grove, New Hope, Robbinsdale, Crystal, Golden Valley, Plymouth, Hopkins, & Minnetonka.
Area 2: Edina, Eden Prairie, Bloomington, Richfield, & St Louis Park
Area 3 (Westonka): Wayzata, Woodland, Deephaven, Excelsior, Shorewood, Tonka Bay, Minnetonka Beach, Orono, Long Lake, Spring Park, Greenwood, & Mound.
Area 4: City of Minneapolis (North Minneapolis or South Minneapolis?)
- As part of the hiring process, independent contractors must pass a criminal background check. Are you willing to submit to this pre-employment check?
- Do you have your own reliable transportation and the ability to supply and transport your own gas or battery powered push mower & weed trimmer/whacker? If No, PLEASE DO NOT APPY FOR THIS POSITION. We DO NOT/CANNOT supply transportation or equipment.
- What is your experience working with seniors 60+? Do you particularly enjoy working with seniors?
- Are you interested in providing snow removal for our clients this winter? As an existing mowing contractor with SCS, there would be no need to reapply for the snow removal position. Supply your own transportation and shovel; having a portable snowblower is a plus.
