Title: Motor Grader Operator
Duration: 6 months (potential extension/conversion depending on project stance)
Pay: 30-35 hr W2
Job Description:
Insight Global is hiring a Motor Grader Operator to support a large-scale roadway and civil construction project at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin. This individual is responsible for performing precision grading and shaping operations in support of roadway construction, earthwork, drainage improvements, and site development activities. The ideal candidate has experience operating motor graders on heavy civil construction projects and can establish and maintain accurate grades for roads, subgrades, ditches, and aggregate surfaces. This is a fully on-site opportunity requiring 5, 8-10 hour shifts daily.
Day to day responsibilities
- Operate motor graders safely and efficiently on active construction sites
- Perform rough and finish grading for roadways, haul roads, building pads, and site development projects
- Establish and maintain proper elevations, slopes, crowns, and drainage grades
- Grade aggregate base courses and prepare surfaces for compaction and paving
- Shape ditches, swales, embankments, and drainage features according to project specifications
- Work closely with excavator, dozer, compaction, and survey crews to meet production goals
- Read and interpret construction plans, grade stakes, and site layouts
- Utilize GPS machine control technology (Trimble, Topcon, Leica, or similar systems) when applicable
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform basic preventative maintenance
- Follow all OSHA, USACE, and company safety requirements
Must haves:
- 3+ years’ experience operating motor graders on heavy civil, roadway, earthwork, or site development projects.
- Experience performing both rough and finish grading.
- Ability to perform both rough and finish grading
- Knowledge of grade stakes, elevations, slopes, and earthmoving principles
- Strong understanding of roadway construction, drainage, and grading principles.
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
Plusses
- Experience working on federal construction projects
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certified
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
