POSITION SUMMARY:
We are hiring for a PRN NOC SHIFT at our 30-bed detox facility. The schedule is fixed 7pm-7:30am. Commitment is 2 shifts per month PRN.
Reports to DON , administers and facilitates patient care, and works in conjunction with facility MD’s and psych NPs.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Patient Care
- Administer medications (PO, IM, Subcutaneous, transdermal (PPD)
- Administer injections when ordered (B-12/B-Complex, Tuberculin)
- Supervise self-administration of medications
- Manage prescriptions
- Ordering prescriptions
- Completes intake assessments, vitals, CIWAS, COWS, along with all other assessments
- Coordinate communication with facility MD
- Patient education on addictions and medications in conjunction with MD
- Check PPD results and facilitate further action when necessary
- Obtain verbal orders from MD when required
- Fax prescription orders to appropriate pharmacies
- Works in conjunction with MD for client physicals, weekly assessments, and follow ups.
- Document client assessments (nursing notes, progress notes, patient education, vitals, systems assessments, etc.)
- Knowledge of how to document on a medication log (MAR)
- In service/train staff on medication education, vitals, and what to do in an emergency situation
- Update MAR’s and patient status forms/progress notes
- Any other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Delegation to BHTs within their scope of practice.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION:
- College Degree in Nursing (ASN/BSN)- Licensed Registered Nurse NCLEX Certified
- At least one year experience in an equivalent position
- Must present good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Must have knowledge of recovery and addictions
- Must have knowledge of psychiatric conditions
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:
Must be a Licensed Registered Nurse NCLEX certified, with a college degree in nursing (ASN accepted, BSN preferred) with a license to practice in Arizona.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must have reasonable ability to do the following:
- Stand, walk and sit during assigned shifts hours.
- Have the ability to manually handle patient belongings with gloved hands.
- Be able to manually assess a patient as part of a physical exam.
- Reach, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Speak and have access to the special senses within normal limits (hear, taste, smell, etc.) as it applies to patient care.
- Must be capable of lifting up to 20 pounds.
