Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care provides a diverse approach to treatment for patients with craniofacial or oral and maxillofacial conditions, including those with multiple or complex oral health problems. The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery discipline functions within the Adams School of Dentistry and UNC Hospitals and specializes in implant surgery, jaw tumors and disease, trauma surgery, cleft palates, facial cosmetic surgery and much more.
Position Summary
The University of North Carolina invites applications for a fixed term Clinical Track Assistant or Associate Professor in the Division of Craniofacial and Surgical Care at the UNC Adams School of Dentistry and the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery at UNC Healthcare. Responsibilities include the didactic and clinical instruction for residents, externs, medical students and dental students as well as participation in the Dental Faculty Practice. Maxillofacial call coverage at UNC Hospitals and the UNC School of Dentistry is required. An interest in cosmetic, temporomandibular joint and/or implant surgery is preferred. A past record of scholarly activity is desirable, and the pursuit of scholarly activity is expected. Numerous opportunities for collaboration exist within the entire University including the dental school, medical school and UNC Healthcare. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated evidence of a strong commitment to teaching, mentoring, leadership, patient care, service, and scholarship.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree and be a board-certified Diplomate of ABOMS. Must have three (3) years post residency/fellowship completion. The candidate must have anesthesia training making them eligible for a NC general anesthesia permit.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
An MD degree is preferred but not required.

This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the Clery Act. This position will be required to report Clery crimes to the Clery Compliance Manager and complete annual training about reporting responsibilities.
