Overview: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Executive Director to lead Anoka Ramsey Athletic Association (ARAA), dedicated to fostering the physical, social, and emotional development of young athletes. The position will also run the day-to-day and financial operations of the ARAA and ARAA sports facility. An ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for youth development through sports, and a proven track record in organizational management.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Strategic Planning:
- Provide visionary leadership to the organization, setting clear goals and strategies for growth and impact.
- Develop and implement strategic plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors to advance the organization's mission and objectives.
- Organizational Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations and administration of the organization.
- Lead training initiatives for volunteer board members and coaches.
- Ensure effective systems for financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
- In collaboration with the ARAA Player Safety Coordinator, ensure all coaches and volunteers have current background checks and any safety issues/initiatives are tracked and communicated.
- Work with each Commissioner as Code of Conduct processes are initiated and tracked.
- Legal Management:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with legal requirements, including nonprofit regulations, employment laws, and youth protection regulations.
- Review and negotiate contracts, agreements, and partnerships, ensuring the organization's interests are protected.
- Advise the Board of Directors and staff on legal issues affecting the organization, providing guidance on risk management and mitigation strategies.
- Facility Management and Scheduling:
- Oversee the management and maintenance of facilities used by the organization, ensuring they are safe, clean, and operational.
- Develop and implement a facility usage schedule that maximizes efficiency and meets the needs of various programs and events.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for facility improvements and repairs as needed.
- Program Development and Evaluation:
- Collaborate with sports commissioners and the board of directors on the design, development, and implementation of high-quality youth sports programs.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and make recommendations for improvements based on data and stakeholder feedback.
- Identify and promote expansion opportunities for ARAA programing.
- Community and Stakeholder Engagement:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with community partners, donors, sponsors, and stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization, effectively representing its mission and initiatives to the public.
- Sports and Facility and Organization Fundraising and Resource Development:
- Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to secure financial support from individual donors, corporate sponsors, and grants.
- Expand revenue-generating and fundraising activities to support existing program operations and future growth.
- Marketing and Communications:
- Enhance the organization's public image through effective marketing, communications, and media relations strategies.
- In partnership with the Board of Director Website Director, develop and maintain the ARAA sports facility and organization website.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or minimum of 5 years of senior management experience in a nonprofit organization, preferably in youth development or sports.
- Proven track record in strategic planning, organizational development, and team leadership.
- Strong financial management skills, including budget development, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of stakeholders.
- Experience working with complex nonprofit boards.
- Passion for youth sports and a commitment to the organization's mission.
Additional Information:
- This is a full-time position based in Ramsey, MN. Occasional travel may be required.
