Position Summary
The Brookwood Community is seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician with professional HVAC and/or plumbing experience and certification to join our Facilities team.
This position will provide skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance services across Brookwood's residential, administrative, program, retail, and community facilities.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in HVAC, plumbing, or both, along with the technical knowledge to independently identify problems, complete repairs, and help maintain safe and reliable building systems.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on facility equipment and building systems.
- Diagnose and repair HVAC and/or plumbing systems based on certification and area of expertise.
- Perform routine HVAC maintenance, including inspecting systems, changing filters, troubleshooting equipment, and identifying repair needs.
- Troubleshoot plumbing issues, including leaks, clogged drains, fixtures, toilets, faucets, pipes, and water systems.
- Complete work orders accurately and within established timelines.
- Perform inspections to identify potential maintenance or safety concerns before they become larger problems.
- Assist with installation, replacement, and repair of facility equipment and components.
- Document completed repairs, preventative maintenance, materials used, and outstanding concerns.
- Maintain tools, equipment, parts, and maintenance supplies.
- Follow OSHA requirements and Brookwood safety procedures.
- Safely operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment.
- Assist with general facility maintenance and emergency repairs as needed.
- Communicate repair needs, project status, and equipment concerns to Facilities leadership.
- Coordinate with outside contractors or vendors when specialized repairs are required.
Required Qualifications
- HVAC and/or plumbing certification required.
- Hands-on professional experience in HVAC, plumbing, facilities maintenance, or a related skilled trade.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices.
- Ability to diagnose maintenance problems and determine appropriate repairs.
- Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Ability to read and follow equipment instructions, safety procedures, and work orders.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a Facilities team.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2–3+ years of professional HVAC and/or plumbing experience preferred.
- EPA HVAC certification or other recognized HVAC credentials.
- Plumbing trade certification, license, or other recognized professional credential.
- OSHA or workplace safety certification.
- Experience maintaining commercial or multi-building facilities.
- Additional experience in electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, or general building maintenance is a plus.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, reach, and perform physical maintenance work for extended periods. The Maintenance Technician must be able to safely use ladders and maintenance equipment and lift or move tools, equipment, parts, and supplies associated with assigned work.

The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, technically skilled, and able to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues with minimal supervision while providing high-quality service throughout the Brookwood campus.
Starting Pay: $20.00/hour, with consideration given to relevant experience, certifications, and additional skilled-trades expertise.
