Business Development Officer Job Description
Position Summary
The Business Development Officer is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new property management business opportunities that align with J & S Management's strategic growth objectives. This role focuses on cultivating relationships with property owners, investors, developers, brokers, and industry professionals while promoting J & S Management's full-service property management solutions.
The Business Development Officer serves as the primary point of contact throughout the sales process, from lead generation through contract execution, and works closely with Operations to ensure a successful transition of newly awarded management contracts.
Business Development
- Identify and pursue new property management opportunities.
- Generate qualified leads through networking, referrals, cold outreach, and industry events.
- Develop relationships with owners, investors, developers, brokers, lenders, and real estate professionals.
- Research market opportunities and maintain an active sales pipeline.
Sales & Client Acquisition
- Conduct owner meetings and property tours.
- Present J & S Management's services and value proposition.
- Prepare proposals and pricing recommendations.
- Negotiate management agreements with leadership.
- Close new management contracts.
Relationship Management
- Build long-term owner relationships.
- Maintain regular communication with prospects.
- Represent J & S Management professionally.
- Attend networking events and industry meetings.
Market Research
- Monitor occupancy, rental rates, new developments, competitors, and investment activity.
- Recommend strategic growth opportunities.
Marketing & Brand Development
- Partner with Marketing to develop proposals, presentations, success stories, and strengthen the J & S Management brand.
Proposal Development
- Prepare property assessments, staffing recommendations, lease-up strategies, financial opportunities, and value-add recommendations.
Transition Management
- Coordinate onboarding and ensure smooth management transitions.
Performance Expectations
- Secure new management contracts.
- Increase units under management.
- Generate qualified leads.
- Complete owner presentations.
- Support successful client transitions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Three or more years of business development, sales, or property management experience.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Property management experience.
- CAM, CPM, ARM or similar designation.
- Experience with AppFolio, Yardi, RealPage, ResMan, or similar software.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
