Bookkeeper — Coin & Gun Shop (Part-Time)
We're a family-owned retail coin, jewelry, and firearms shop looking for an experienced bookkeeper to own our day-to-day books in QuickBooks Online. This is hands-on work for a real small business — not a corporate finance department. You'll work directly with the owner and hand off clean books to our CPA at year-end.
What you'll do
- Categorize and reconcile daily bank and credit card feeds in QuickBooks Online
- Match daily credit card batch deposits against recorded sales; book merchant fees
- Reconcile all bank, credit card, and loan accounts monthly
- Track loan payments (principal/interest splits) and maintain liability accounts
- Keep income and COGS cleanly separated by product line (firearms, ammo/accessories, coins, scrap jewelry)
- Process accounts payable for distributor and vendor invoices
- Assist with payroll processing
- Produce monthly P&L and balance sheet for owner review; prepare year-end package for our CPA
What we're looking for
- Proven bookkeeping experience with QuickBooks Online — retail with inventory strongly preferred
- Solid grasp of double-entry bookkeeping, reconciliation, and COGS
- Experience working with cash-heavy retail a plus
- Organized, self-directed, and comfortable asking the owner "what was this transaction?" instead of guessing
- Discretion and trustworthiness — you'll be handling sensitive financial records
