We are seeking experienced Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) who are patient, empathetic, demonstrate a caring approach, and have good communication skills to teach life skills and self-care skills to adults with intellectual and developmental differences in a home setting. The DSP provides individualized quality care which promotes their rights, dignity, respect, and freedom of choice. WORK SCHEDULE The part time “live-in” weekend shift is every other weekend from Friday night at 11:00 pm to Sunday night at 11:00 pm. A designated area with a bed is provided. *Friday at 11:00 pm to Saturday at 7:00 am (live-in/sleep) *Saturday at 7:00 am to Saturday at 11:00 pm (awake) *Saturday at 11:00 pm to Sunday at 7:00 am (live-in/sleep) *Sunday at 7:00 am to Sunday at 11:00 pm (awake) WORK LOCATION Tucker, GA 30084 BENEFITS S.M.I.L.E. offers the following benefits: 401K, FSA, HSA, EAP, and group rate dental and vision. S.M.I.L.E. does not offer paid time off at this time (sick, vacation, holiday, etc.). Payday is every other Friday and direct deposit is required. RESPONSIBILITIES Guidance: Providing individualized supports depending on the needs and wants of the person being supported to help them do things on their own and lead a self-directed life. Healthcare: Assisting with activities of daily living such as supervising self-administered medications and reminding about maintaining personal hygiene (bathing, handwashing, dental hygiene, nail care, hair hygiene, shaving, and clothing care). Transportation: Providing transportation using agency vehicles for appointments, social outings, day program, work/volunteer, recreation, and other activities. Documentation: Maintaining accurate records, including medication documentation, behavioral tracking, healthcare tracking, incident reports, and daily progress notes. Community engagement: Helping people integrate into their local community and encouraging them to engage in social networks. Behavioral management: Following and documenting behavioral support plans and offering redirection and intervention. Reporting: Informing management and nursing promptly of changes in physical or mental conditions, injuries or falls, medication concerns, unusual occurrences, any suspected abuse or neglect, and any concerns about the client's environment or safety issues. Housekeeping: Completing and guiding the clients to complete tasks such as cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dishwashing, dusting, emptying trash cans, and laundry. Planning and preparing nutritious meals, considering individual dietary needs and preferences. Training: Maintain training requirements for continued employment eligibility by attending required training courses provided onsite, online, or virtual. QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS • High school diploma or GED. • Pass a national background check and fingerprinting. • Valid Georgia driver's license and satisfactory driving record. • First Aid/CPR AED certifications. • Negative Tuberculosis screen. • Able to read, write and understand the English language. • Proficient use of software, computers, tablets, and smartphones. • Safely drive in all traffic situations and weather conditions. • Able to tolerate frustrating situations. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in a home setting. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit, stoop, reach, bend, twist, kneel, push, and pull for periods of time as well as see, talk, and hear. The employee may frequently move to interact with fellow employees, visitors, and/or clients. Additionally, the employee may be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Employees may be required to work at any location as needed and be responsible for own transportation to and from these locations.
