Primary Purpose:
Assists teachers in the preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Works under the supervision of a certified teacher.
Qualifications:
Education
(must meet one of the following)
-
High school diploma or equivalent with the ability to pass a rigorous content-oriented exam, or
-
48 semester hours of college credit, or
-
Associate degree
Certification

Current Texas educational aide certificate or ability to obtain

Key Responsibilities:
Instructional Support
-
Assist teachers in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.

Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.

Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.

Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
-
Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
-
Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Student Management

Conduct instructional exercises the teacher assigns and work with individual students or small groups.

Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.

Keep the teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
Additional Responsibilities:

Adhere to all district policies, procedures, and expectations as outlined in the employee handbook and administrative regulations.

Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Participate in professional development, faculty/department meetings, and special events as assigned.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of the campus and district.
