Job Overview
As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities or special needs. Your primary responsibility will be to provide compassionate care and support in various settings, including group homes and home care environments. Duties
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and cooking nutritious meals.
- Provide support in maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
- Help clients engage in social and recreational activities to promote community involvement.
- Implement care plans tailored to each individual’s needs, ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations.
- Assist clients with mobility, including lifting and transferring when necessary.
- Offer companionship and emotional support to enhance the overall well-being of clients.
- Document daily activities and any changes in client behavior or condition as required.
Skills
- Experience in assisting individuals with disabilities or special needs is preferred.
- Knowledge of dementia care and long-term care practices is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with clients, families, and team members.
- Ability to follow care plans accurately while being attentive to the specific needs of each client.
- Competence in maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
- Physical ability to lift clients safely and perform tasks that require standing for extended periods.
- A caring attitude combined with patience and empathy towards individuals receiving support.
