Job Summary
We are seeking an Entry Level Adult Caregiver in San Rafael, CA for a paid, part-time Direct Service Professional Intern opportunity supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This 3-month shadow training program is designed for candidates who are compassionate, dependable, and interested in building a meaningful career in healthcare services and community-based support.
In this role, you will work alongside an experienced mentor while learning how to help individuals live more independent, fulfilling, and connected lives. This is a supportive training environment with hands-on learning, positive teamwork, and a potential pathway to long-term employment. Candidates who are a strong mutual fit may be considered for permanent placement during or after the program.
This opportunity is ideal for someone who wants to make a real difference, gain practical caregiving experience, and grow in a people-centered healthcare role with structured training and supportive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Shadow and support experienced Direct Service Professionals while learning person-centered care practices.
- Assist individuals with daily living skills such as hygiene, cooking, transportation, and community participation.
- Support communication, social interaction, independence, dignity, and personal choice.
- Help individuals access services, resources, education, job readiness, and wellness-related supports.
- Encourage inclusion, relationship building, individual rights, and meaningful community engagement.
- Document services, progress, and support activities according to program expectations.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $16.90 per hour.
- Potential conversion pay: Up to $21.50 per hour.
