In this position, you will be helping build and support sophisticated medical accelerator systems that have the potential to dramatically improve the lives of cancer patients.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
As an Electrical Engineer, you will apply electrical systems engineering principles to help develop, integrate, test, install, and support the electrical systems that are essential to our accelerator-based BNCT technology. You will work with power supplies, motors, ion sources, high-voltage equipment, particle accelerator systems, and other electrical and electromechanical components.
This position will initially report to the President and Chief Operating Officer while the team continues to develop. This is an opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer who is eager to learn, tackle complex technical challenges, and grow rapidly within a high-potential medical technology startup. The role requires someone who is a self-starter, enjoys independent research, and is energized by solving difficult technical problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Electrical Engineering and Systems Engineering Support
- Troubleshoot, repair, install, and support motors, electrical devices, and electromechanical components throughout the BNCT system.
- Investigate electrical and system-level issues, identify root causes, and develop practical engineering solutions.
- Support the design, operation, integration, and ongoing improvement of complex electrical equipment.
- Participate in the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and field support of accelerator-based medical equipment.
- Use electrical test and diagnostic equipment to evaluate performance and resolve technical problems.
- Create and maintain schematics, system and subsystem requirements, test procedures, work instructions, design documentation, and engineering records.
- Work collaboratively with engineers, technical specialists, suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
Power Supply System Development
- Assume growing responsibility for the company’s proprietary electrostatic high-voltage power supply system supporting the accelerator platform.
- Support the system’s continued development, testing, troubleshooting, and performance improvement.
- Help design and implement new features and technical enhancements.
- Coordinate with third-party manufacturing partners.
- Complete final integration, configuration, inspection, and testing activities.
- Apply systems engineering principles to develop solutions that improve system reliability, safety, serviceability, and performance.
- Support technical investigations and corrective actions related to power supply operation.
Installation and Field Support
- Travel to customer and partner locations to support system installation, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Provide hands-on technical support during domestic and international deployments.
- Collaborate with local technical teams, engineering partners, and other stakeholders to resolve field issues.
- Document and apply field experience to future system improvements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Coursework, academic projects, laboratory experience, or personal interest involving one or more of the following:
- Power supplies or power electronics
- Accelerator systems
- Ion sources
- High-voltage equipment
- Strong analytical and technical problem-solving abilities.
- Ability and willingness to conduct independent technical research.
- Interest in hands-on engineering, testing, troubleshooting, and system integration.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
· Genuine technical curiosity, personal initiative, and enthusiasm for Neutron Therapeutics’ mission.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Academic, research, internship, laboratory, or project experience involving power supplies, electrical hardware, systems engineering, system integration, or other complex technical systems.
- Familiarity with electrical schematics, design documentation, test procedures, or diagnostic equipment.
- Exposure to power conversion, high-voltage systems, control systems, scientific instrumentation, or accelerator technology.
