The City of Phoenix Public Works Department is looking for Equipment Service Worker IIs to perform skilled servicing, mechanical maintenance, and minor repairs to automotive, heavy duty, and other motorized equipment.
Responsibilities include:

Performing routine servicing and maintenance of engines, transmissions, chassis, air conditioning, and tune-ups.

Repairing and replacing wheel bearings and brakes.

Balancing tires and wheels; and patching and repairing tires.

Maintaining service parts and inventory records and installing and fabricating City decals, light bar kits, arrow boards, dash switches, electrical wiring, gauges, and other equipment and components.
Currently there are multiple vacancies for the Equipment Service Worker I / II.
Individuals that do not meet the minimum requirements below for the Equipment Service Worker II may qualify for the opportunity to underfill at the Equipment Service Worker I. The Equipment Service Worker I's perform preventive vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs. Candidates selected to underfill are promoted to Equipment Service Worker II after successfully achieving the skill requirements for the job. This must be completed within two years of hire date. Candidates at both levels should apply to this recruitment.
This position will be funded through June 2028 with a possibility to be made regular in a future budget cycle. The temporary position will have benefits but will not earn city retirement credits or participate financially into the city's retirement program. If the successful candidate is a current City employee, all benefits will still be applicable, and the employee will still contribute to their pension. Temporary positions are not covered under civil service rules, and thus employment is considered "at-will", and employees may be separated at any time.
