Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Computer Technician to join our IT support team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in technical support, software troubleshooting, and computer management across diverse operating systems and network environments. This role offers an opportunity to work on complex IT infrastructure projects, provide exceptional customer service, and contribute to maintaining diverse technology systems. The Senior Computer Technician will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of IT operations.
Duties
- Provide advanced technical support for hardware, software, and network issues across Windows, macOS, and Linux platforms.
- Troubleshoot and resolve software problems related to operating systems, applications (including Microsoft Office), and enterprise tools such as SCCM, GPO, Active Directory.
- Manage computer hardware including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and peripherals; perform upgrades and repairs as needed.
- Configure and maintain computer networks including LAN, TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls, SonicWall, Meraki devices, and network administration tasks.
- Support IT infrastructure components such as Windows Server environments and Linux servers; assist with server management and maintenance.
- Administer user accounts and permissions via Active Directory; manage group policies (GPO) to enforce security protocols.
- Utilize tools like systems for ticket management; document issues and resolutions accurately.
- Monitor network performance and security; implement firewall rules and VPN configurations to safeguard organizational data.
- Provide desktop support for end-users; assist with mobile device setup and troubleshooting.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze system performance issues and recommend improvements.
- Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to facilitate knowledge sharing.
Experience
- Proven experience in a senior IT support or computer technician role with a focus on enterprise environments.
- Strong knowledge of Windows (including Windows Server), macOS, Linux operating systems, and associated management tools.
- Extensive experience with network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS; familiarity with VPNs, firewalls (including Meraki), LAN/WAN administration.
- Proficiency in using enterprise management tools like SCCM, Active Directory, GPO for system deployment and policy enforcement.
- Hands-on experience supporting hardware components including desktops, laptops, mobile devices; familiarity with computer hardware repair is necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues related to software applications, operating systems, network connectivity, and security protocols.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with technical teams and end-users; strong customer service orientation.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), or Cisco certifications are advantageous.
