Job Title: Clinical Medical Assistant
Position Summary
The Clinical Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting healthcare providers with annual visits, problem visits, clinical procedures, and administrative duties in a fast-paced gynecology practice. This role requires excellent communication skills, professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain patient confidentiality while providing exceptional care to women of all ages.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Clinical Responsibilities
- Welcome and prepare patients for examination and treatment.
- Obtain and document vital signs, medical history, medications, allergies, and chief complaints.
- Prepare exam rooms and ensure all equipment and supplies are stocked and sanitized.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners during gynecological examinations and office procedures.
- Collect and process laboratory specimens, including urine, vaginal cultures, and Pap smear specimens.
- Perform CLIA-waived laboratory testing according to office protocols.
- Administer injections and medications as directed by the provider and within scope of practice.
- Prepare patients for procedures such as colposcopies, endometrial biopsies, IUD insertions/removals, and other minor office procedures.
- Sterilize and maintain medical instruments following infection control guidelines.
- Educate patients regarding medications, procedures, and follow-up care under provider direction.
- Schedule diagnostic testing and referrals as needed.
Administrative Responsibilities
· Pre-chart patient visits using EMR templates; enter and pend provider orders for in-office testing, outside laboratory services, diagnostic imaging, and referrals to ensure efficient patient flow and continuity of care.
· Review laboratory and diagnostic results, including Pap smears, vaginal swabs, mammograms, pathology, and imaging reports, and communicate provider-reviewed findings to patients within scope of practice and office protocols.
- Document patient information accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Answer telephone calls, relay messages, and assist with patient questions.
- Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up visits.
- Obtain insurance authorizations and verify patient information when necessary.
- Process prescription refill requests according to office policy.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant diploma or certificate from an accredited program: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), LPN
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or obtained within designated timeframe.
- Previous experience in OB/GYN, women's health, family medicine, or primary care preferred.
- Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems, eClinical Works experience preferred.

- Knowledge of gynecologic terminology and clinical procedures.
- Strong patient assessment and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and provide compassionate care in sensitive situations.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a healthcare team.
- Proficiency with computers, EMR systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
