Overview:
The Conference Services Lead will support the successful execution of meetings, conferences, and special events at Brandywine Creek in Covert, MI. This role involves setting up audio-visual (AV) equipment, arranging conference and meeting spaces, and assisting with catering setup and basic food service tasks. They are detail-oriented, professional, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Prepare conference and meeting rooms according to event specifications (tables, chairs, signage, etc.), ensuring that amenities are as ordered.
- Ensure all spaces are clean, organized, and presentable before guest arrival
- Provides minimal support for technological needs, including video conferencing, A/V, and connectivity needs.
- Provide basic technical support during events and escalate issues when needed
- Assist with equipment inventory and maintenance
- Assist with catering setup, including buffet lines, beverage stations, and tableware
- Maintain cleanliness and restocking of catering areas during events
- Perform light food service duties such as plating, replenishing items, and clearing used dishes
- Step in as acting Catering Supervisor when needed, overseeing setup, service flow, team coordination, and guest satisfaction
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
- Support the setup, restocking, and cleanliness of the hotel’s continental breakfast area as needed.
- Ensure adherence to food safety and sanitation standards and assist with training or guiding team members as appropriate
- Greet and assist guests with professionalism and courtesy
- Respond to last-minute changes or special requests promptly
- Demonstrate a self-starter mindset by taking initiative, anticipating needs, and proactively addressing tasks without constant supervision
- Work collaboratively with team members across departments to ensure seamless guest experiences
- Maintain flexibility to assist with various hotel operations as needed, including support for front desk, housekeeping, or other event-related services
Education – Skills – Expectations
- Prior experience in conference services, hospitality, AV tech, or food service preferred
- Basic knowledge of AV equipment (projectors, sound systems, video conferencing tools)
- Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs and standing/walking for extended periods
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, or weekends as event schedules require
Must possess a positive, can-do attitude, be detail-oriented, and possess a well-rounded knowledge of the food service industry. Must maintain professionalism at all times, and work with others in a cooperative manner, even while working under pressure. Willing to engage actively in the physical work of a high-quality hospitality service operation.
