Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Estimator specializing in bridge projects to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to lead cost estimation efforts for large-scale bridge construction initiatives, ensuring accurate budgeting, effective cost control, and successful project delivery. The ideal candidate will bring construction industry experience, strong technical skills, and a passion for managing complex estimates from start to finish.
Duties
- Prepare detailed estimates for bridge projects by analyzing blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications.
- Utilize estimating software such as HeavyBid and construction management software to develop accurate cost projections.
- Review construction drawings thoroughly to interpret technical requirements and material needs.
- Manage material cost estimating by sourcing pricing from suppliers and negotiating favorable terms.
- Develop comprehensive project budgets, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to refine estimates and ensure alignment with project scope.
- Monitor project costs throughout the bidding process and update estimates as needed to maintain accuracy.
- Assist in bid preparation by compiling all necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with client specifications.
Qualifications
- Proven experience managing estimates for heavy civil or bridge construction projects.
- Proficiency with estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, and Xactimate.
- Strong ability to read and interpret construction blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent negotiation skills with suppliers and subcontractors to optimize costs.
- Solid understanding of construction management software and Microsoft Office tools, especially spreadsheets.
- Demonstrated experience in cost management, material estimating, and budget development.
- Construction industry experience with a focus on commercial bridge projects is highly preferred.
- Effective client communication skills coupled with the ability to interpret technical data accurately.
- Construction site experience is advantageous for understanding on-the-ground project needs.
- Knowledge of contracts, project management principles, and construction estimating best practices.
