Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our team. We are a friendly, patient centered solo family medicine practice dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care. We are looking for a dependable, organized individual to join and assist our primary receptionist and co-manage the front office. Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage check-in/check-out procedures with professionalism and efficiency
- Schedule appointments, coordinate patient flow, and manage calendar updates using EMR (Electronic Medical Record). Experience with eClinicalWorks is preferred.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and conduct insurance verification processes
- Collect and process payments, including medical collections and billing using medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10) and medical billing procedures
- Maintain accurate medical records, review documentation for completeness, and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette; handle patient inquiries and direct calls appropriately
- Assist with intake procedures, including patient registration and data entry using various EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems like eClinicalWorks
- Support front desk operations by managing filing, faxing, scanning, and managing office supplies with strong clerical skills
- Facilitate communication between providers and patients regarding care plans and follow-up appointments
- Ensure smooth clinic operations by coordinating with clinical staff on patient flow and appointment scheduling
Qualifications
- Experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office support role, preferably within family medicine or primary care clinics preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing processes preferred
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR system eClinicalWorks is highly desirable
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and data entry accuracy (10 key typing)
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
- Experience with insurance verification processes and Medicare procedures preferred
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude
