Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Resident Transportation Driver to provide safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation services for residents within our community. In this vital role, you will help residents at Accel reach their destinations comfortably and securely. Responsibilities
- Safely operate facility van.
- Assist passengers with wheelchair assistance, ensuring proper securement and comfort during transit.
- Follow all traffic laws, vehicle codes, and transportation safety regulations to maintain a secure environment for passengers and other road users.
- Respond quickly to traffic changes, road hazards, or emergency situations by implementing emergency stop procedures and defensive driving techniques.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating clearly with residents, addressing their needs, and managing passenger behavior professionally.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure mechanical safety, cleanliness, and proper functioning of safety equipment such as first aid kits and emergency response tools.
- Maintain accurate records of routes traveled, passenger counts, incidents, and vehicle maintenance logs in compliance with company policies and local regulations.
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; commercial driver’s license (CDL) is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of traffic laws, vehicle codes, transportation safety regulations, and emergency response procedures for transportation.
- Ability to assist passengers with mobility challenges including wheelchair assistance; physical capability for heavy lifting when necessary.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for serving diverse communities.
- Experience working with seniors is highly valued.
- Certifications such as CPR, first aid, defensive driving training, and knowledge of child/behavior management are preferred.
- Mechanical knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting is beneficial for ensuring vehicle safety.
