Duties
- Lead daily dance classes and warm-up sessions tailored to various age groups and skill levels, ensuring all participants are engaged and motivated.
- Facilitate age-appropriate group activities that promote teamwork, confidence, and creativity through dance and movement exercises.
- Monitor child behavior and implement effective behavior management strategies to maintain a positive camp environment.
- Ensure the safety of all campers by supervising outdoor activities, managing transitions between activities, and adhering to first aid protocols when necessary.
- Assist with setting up performance rehearsals, costume preparations, and stage management for camp showcases or performances.
- Collaborate with fellow staff members to plan themed dance routines, special events, and team-building exercises that enhance the camp experience.
- Maintain open communication with parents/guardians regarding camper progress and any safety concerns.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working with children in educational or recreational settings such as camp experience, daycare, tutoring, or youth programs.
- Strong knowledge of classroom management techniques, behavior management strategies, and child supervision best practices.
- Certification in First Aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), AED (Automated External Defibrillator) operation, and First Aid protocols required; ongoing training preferred.
- Background in dance instruction, theater arts, sports coaching, or early childhood education highly desirable.
- Ability to lead outdoor work activities safely while maintaining high energy levels throughout the day.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster a supportive environment for children of diverse backgrounds.
- Experience facilitating youth group activities or youth development programs is a plus.
