Under guidance of the optometrist, the technician will perform activities including but not limited to:
- Computer experience and Microsoft suite knowledge (or something comparable) is a requirement.
- Answer phone calls, greeting patients and organized record retention is a requirement.
- Fax, email and/or process incoming and outgoing provider referrals, medical letters, and other medical correspondence in relation to patient-related needs directed by the applicable Optometrist.
- Schedule patient examinations and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays.
- Perform pre-examination tests on all patients before they see the optometrist, including the administration of diagnostic tests, auto-refraction, NCT, automated visual field screenings, Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), topography, and visual acuity.
- Communicating with patients, doctor, and staff respectfully and efficiently.
- Educate patients on their medical/vision insurance coverage and benefits.
- Dispense contact lenses and train patients on proper contact lens use and care.
- Obtain insurance authorizations and verification of benefit and maintain patient records.
- Process and submit medical claims/billing for a variety of vision and medical insurances.
- Perform financial transactions and accurately post charges for exam fees, co-pays, and products sold.
- Learn and understand ocular terminology and diseases.
- Keep office documentation organized and ensure equipment and office is properly maintained.
- Other medical-office related tasks.

Supplemental Pay:
- Base Rate with Potential Overtime

Education:
- Associate Degree or Higher
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred, Chinese a plus)
Experience:
- Experience preferred, but not required. I am willing to train the right candidate
- Previous experience as an Optometric Technician is preferred, but not required
- Previous experience with electronic medical records preferred, but not required
- 1+ years’ experience in optical/optometry/medical industry preferred, but not required'
