Minimum Requirements:
1. Two or four year Degree from an accredited college, or military Biomedical Equipment maintenance Technician program, or 5 years of experience in the Biomedical Equipment Maintenance field.
2. Experience in medical, dental and x-ray equipment repairs and maintenance preferred.
3. Clinical experience in a cross cultural setting is preferred.
4. Must pass background check pursuant to federal Indian Child Protection and Family Violence Prevention Act requirements.
5. A+ and Network+ certification preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Must have the skill to analyze, diagnose, and trouble-shoot most of the equipment on the inventory.
2. Must understand the principles of medical instrumentation and the theory and practice of how biomedical instruments can be used to interface safely with human systems to measure parameters, diagnose, monitor or affect therapy within the human body.
3. Must have the knowledge and vocabulary to understand and communicate in proper medical terminology to health care professionals in relation to medical instrumentation problems.
4. Must be able to demonstrate a fundamental knowledge of human physiology.
5. Must be able demonstrate knowledge of the healthcare facility safety and environmental health and awareness of hazardous waste handling, disease isolation and cross-contamination.
6. Must have ability to train others and make in-service presentations for equipment operators, and orient clinical staff to specific biomedical instruments.
Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
