The Opportunity
This is a front-line leadership role:
- Be one of the first leadership voices on the production floor
- Help set safety, quality, and performance standards
- Direct exposure to plant and executive leadership
- Clear path to Supervisor roles as the company scales
You won’t inherit problems; you will help prevent them.
Role Summary
The Team Leader is responsible for leading a production team on the floor, ensuring daily targets for safety, quality, delivery, and productivity are met. This role serves as the first level of leadership and the primary point of contact for operators.
This is a hands-on role. You lead by example, not from behind a screen.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Execution
- Execute daily production plans and staffing assignments
- Balance work across stations to meet output goals
- Monitor takt time, throughput, and downtime
- Escalate issues early with facts, not surprises
Team Leadership
- Lead a team of 12–15 production employees
- Set clear expectations for performance, behavior, and attendance
- Train new hires and support cross-training
- Provide coaching, feedback, and on-the-spot correction
Safety & Housekeeping
- Enforce safety rules, PPE usage, and safe work practices
- Conduct daily safety checks and address hazards immediately
- Maintain 5S standards and a clean, organized work area
Quality Ownership
- Ensure standard work and quality checks are followed
- Act as first response to defects or rework
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions
Continuous Improvement
- Identify waste, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities
- Participate in kaizen and process improvement activities
- Help implement new layouts, tools, and processes
Communication & Reporting
- Lead shift huddles and daily updates
- Communicate staffing, quality, and production status to leadership
- Support audits, builds, and special projects as needed
Required Qualifications
- 2–5 years of manufacturing or production experience
- Prior experience as a Team Leader or Group Leader
- Working knowledge of:
- Manufacturing safety practices
- Standard work and production flow
- Basic quality concepts
- Strong communication and people-leadership skills
- High accountability and bias for action
- Comfortable working in a startup environment with change and ambiguity
Preferred Qualifications
- Assembly or fabrication experience
- Lean manufacturing
- 5S exposure
- New product launch experience
