Position Overview
The Grade 2 Elementary School Teacher is a Christ‑centered educator who partners with parents and colleagues to provide academic excellence and spiritual formation in a biblical worldview framework. This teacher is responsible for delivering developmentally appropriate instruction that nurtures the intellectual, spiritual, social, emotional, and physical growth of second‑grade students.
This position is considered part of the School’s Christian ministry and requires a sincere Christian faith, professional conduct consistent with biblical standards, and active support of the School’s mission, Statement of Faith, and policies.
Primary Responsibilities
Instructional Responsibilities
- Provide high‑quality instruction in core elementary subjects, which may include literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, Bible, and related subjects, consistent with the School’s curriculum and scope and sequence.
- Integrate biblical truth and Christian character development throughout academic instruction and classroom culture.
- Plan daily lessons that include clear objectives, differentiated instruction, formative and summative assessment, and continuous student progress monitoring.
- Maintain accurate grades, student records, and documentation in accordance with school policies and WPCP requirements.
- Establish classroom routines that promote a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
Spiritual Formation & Leadership
- Model Christ‑like behavior, speech, and relationships, serving as a positive role model to students (Luke 6:40).
- Lead students in prayer, Bible instruction, and age‑appropriate faith formation.
- Encourage students’ understanding of God’s truth, personal responsibility, and respect for others.
- Actively participate in staff devotions, spiritual training, and faith‑based professional development.
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate regularly and professionally with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and needs.
- Collaborate with fellow faculty and administration to support school‑wide goals, student success, and curriculum alignment.
- Participate in parent‑teacher conferences, school events, and scheduled meetings.
Compliance & Accountability
- Support and comply with all requirements of ACSI accreditation, including instructional quality, professional conduct, and spiritual integration.
- Fulfill duties required for schools participating in the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program (WPCP), including compliance with DPI guidelines applicable to instructional staff.
- Adhere to school policies related to safety, confidentiality, child protection, and supervision.
Required Qualifications
- Personal profession of faith in Jesus Christ with a clear Christian testimony.
- Agreement with and commitment to uphold the School’s Statement of Faith and biblical standards of conduct.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution (Elementary Education strongly preferred).
- Eligibility to obtain or willingness to pursue ACSI teacher certification within required timelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred / Strongly Encouraged Qualifications
- Prior elementary classroom teaching experience, especially in lower elementary grades.
- Familiarity with developmentally appropriate practices for primary‑age learners.
- Knowledge of Wisconsin education expectations for private or choice schools.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Experience integrating faith and learning in a Christian school setting.
