The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for performing quality assurance audits and inspections at various project job sites. Position supports and promotes company’s projects and quality Initiatives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist the department manager and/or supervisor with nonconformance or quality incident reporting, root cause investigations and corrective action implementation throughout the organization
- Performs various inspections to verify compliance to code(s), standards, jurisdictional and specification requirements for:
- Materials received and/or issued
- Layout
- Fit-up
- Welding
- Process verification
- In process and final Inspection
- Coating Inspectors, NACE Level II certified and capable of verifying the following:
- Perform surface profile tests
- Perform coating thickness checks
- Use various inspection, measuring and test equipment as required for Inspection being performed
- Document findings and inspection results using various reports and forms
- Provide and maintain documentation as required by contract, code(s), standards, specifications, or jurisdictional requirements
- Perform third party inspection sign offs
- Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies (including client’s) while promoting the Company’s safety culture
- Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality control inspection
- CWI, CWE, CWS or CWB CSA W178.2 certification(s) required
- Previous experience with codes such as ASME Sections VIII Div. 1 or 2, Section 1, Section V, Section IX, ASME B31.1, B31.3, AWS D1.1, API 1104
- Experience in NDE methods
- NACE (for Coating Inspectors) certification required
SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES
- Working knowledge of applicable construction codes, policies, standards, and best practices
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with customers and employees at all levels
- Strong communicator with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents such as scopes of work, and project schedule
- Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
- Must be proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
- Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
- Strong analytical skills required to understand and interpret data
- Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams)
- Ability to quickly learn the organizations systems
- Must be able to work non-routine hours, when necessary
- Must have a valid, unexpired driver’s license
- Ability and willingness to travel as required for out-of-town travel assignments
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
- Ability to stand for long periods of time which may consist of 8 or more hours
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another constantly perform repeating motions with feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers to include walking, standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting, bending, gripping, climbing
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs and scaffolds
- Ability to walk on beams and narrow surfaces at and above ground level
- Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
