Staff Accountant
Location: Morgantown, WV
Employment Status: Full-Time
This is primarily an in-office position, with hybrid flexibility on Fridays available after training and demonstrated proficiency.
Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant who takes pride in delivering accurate and timely financial information. This position plays an important role in supporting accounting operations across multiple business divisions, maintaining balance sheet integrity, and assisting with financial reporting and month-end close processes.

Key ResponsibilitiesCore Accounting Duties
- Reconcile bank accounts and balance sheet accounts across multiple business divisions.
- Provide accounting support and assist with resolving complex transactional issues.
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including prepaid expenses, paid vs. worked days, interest earned, depreciation, bonus accruals, and holiday accruals.
- Support an accurate and timely month-end close by maintaining checklists, identifying discrepancies, and coordinating with appropriate teams to resolve issues.
- Maintain organized workpapers and supporting documentation for internal review and audits.
Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with the Assistant Controller to ensure accounting deadlines, deliverables, and reporting requirements are met.
- Partner with divisional administrative teams to promote consistency, enforce accounting policies, and maintain uniform processes across business entities.
- Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and reconciliations and assisting with auditor inquiries.
- Assist with compiling monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for management review.
- Contribute to process-improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to automate, improve, or streamline accounting workflows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 2–4 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or accounting operations.
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Experience preparing reconciliations and journal entries.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort working with spreadsheets daily.
- Experience supporting multiple entities or business units preferred.
- Familiarity with accounting systems and expense-management tools.
- Self-motivated, trainable, and eager to learn.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
