Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in pharmacy operations, patient service, and medication management within hospital or LTC (Long-Term Care) settings. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to patient care by supporting pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications, while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Candidates with hospital experience, critical care expertise, and knowledge of medical terminology are highly preferred. This position is paid and provides a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care.
Duties
- Assist pharmacists with medication preparation, dispensing, and inventory management
- Support patient intake processes and provide exceptional patient service
- Prepare and verify medications, including IV infusions, using aseptic techniques
- Ensure accurate medication administration documentation and recordkeeping
- Maintain compliance with safety protocols related to aseptic technique and medication handling
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support acute care and critical care patients
- Manage medication orders, stock levels, and expiration tracking
- Provide patient education on medication use when appropriate
Requirements
- Proven pharmacy technician experience, preferably in hospital or LTC pharmacy settings
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication administration, and aseptic technique
- Strong understanding of pharmacy operations within acute care environments
- Excellent patient service skills with a focus on patient care and safety
- Ability to work effectively in fast-paced healthcare settings requiring attention to detail
- Certification as a pharmacy technician is preferred; licensure may be required based on state regulations
