Hansen’s Tree Service is seeking a motivated, safety-focused Tree Technician to perform pruning, trimming, deadwood removal, clearance work, and other technical tree care services from aerial lifts, bucket trucks, boom trucks, and other approved elevated equipment.
This is more than another outdoor job. The Tree Technician position is an important step in Hansen’s career development path and is designed for individuals who want to strengthen their technical tree care skills, expand their experience working at height, and continue progressing toward a future Climber role.

What You’ll Do
As a Tree Technician, you will work alongside Crew Leaders, Climbers, Ground Crew Technicians, and other experienced professionals to safely and efficiently complete residential, commercial, municipal, and other tree care projects.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Performing pruning, trimming, deadwood removal, clearance pruning, structural pruning, canopy cleaning, and other approved tree care work from aerial lifts, bucket trucks, boom trucks, or other elevated work platforms
- Safely using chainsaws, hand saws, pole saws, pruning tools, ropes, and other tree care equipment within your training and authorization
- Evaluating tree structure, branch weight, decay, deadwood, hanging limbs, tension, compression, overhead hazards, and changing jobsite conditions before beginning work
- Maintaining proper fall protection, safe body positioning, situational awareness, and effective communication while working at height
- Supporting job planning, equipment setup, hazard assessments, work-zone organization, property protection, and safe job flow
- Assisting with skilled ground operations, including brush handling, chipper operation, equipment staging, rope handling, debris removal, and final cleanup
- Protecting customer property and helping ensure every jobsite is left clean, safe, and professional
- Supporting less-experienced team members by modeling safe work practices, professionalism, teamwork, and strong jobsite awareness
What We’re Looking For
Successful candidates will be dependable, motivated, safety-conscious, and committed to developing their skills.
Qualifications include:
- Minimum two years of experience in tree care, arboriculture, vegetation management, forestry, storm cleanup, landscaping, utility line-clearance support, or a similar physically demanding outdoor field
- Experience working as part of a professional tree care crew
- Knowledge of pruning practices, tree structure, limb behavior, tree hazards, jobsite safety, and property protection
- Experience with brush chippers, chainsaws, pole saws, hand tools, ropes, aerial lifts, bucket trucks, boom trucks, or similar equipment
- The ability to safely perform demanding outdoor work at height and in changing weather, terrain, and jobsite conditions
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a crew
- A reliable work history with strong attendance and punctuality
A Missouri Class E driver's license or out-of-state equivalent is required or must be obtained within 30 days of employment. A Class A CDL is highly preferred.
Candidates must also possess OSHA 10 certification or be willing and able to obtain it within their first 60 days of employment.
Industry training or certifications—including ISA, TCIA, aerial lift, fall protection, chainsaw safety, chipper safety, electrical hazard awareness, CPR/First Aid, or traffic-control training—are strongly valued.

Experience:
- professional, commercial tree trimming/pruning/removal: 2 years (Required)
- trimming aloft: 1 year (Required)
License/Certification:
- MO Class "E" (Chauffeur's or "for hire" license) or higher? (Required)
Work Location: In person
