Triosim Corporation is seeking a motivated, career-minded Junior Machinist to join our industrial pump repair and refurbishment facility. In this role, you will enter a dedicated mentoring partnership, working side-by-side with a Senior Master Machinist to master the foundational principles of precision manual and CNC machining.
Your primary focus will be learning to reverse-engineer, machine, and recondition critical industrial equipment components—including shafts, sleeves, rotors, and housings—for heavy-duty liquid ring vacuum pumps. This position is designed as a direct technical pipeline to develop raw mechanical aptitude into elite-tier machining craftsmanship.
Key Responsibilities and Learning Objectives
One-on-One Mentorship: Work daily under the direct supervision of a senior mentor to absorb advanced trade techniques, setup setups, and precision diagnostic troubleshooting.
Machine Operation Fundamentals: Learn to safely set up and operate conventional machine shop equipment, including manual engine lathes, vertical milling machines, surface grinders, and drill presses.
Precision Measurement Mastery: Develop expert proficiency using high-precision inspection tools, including outside/inside micrometers, dial indicators, vernier calipers, and bore gauges to verify work.
Blueprint & Technical Literacy: Learn to read and accurately interpret industrial mechanical blueprints, engineering drawings, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) symbols.
Pump Refurbishment Assistance: Support the teardown, cleaning, and structural inspection of worn industrial pumps, documenting component tolerances against original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications.
Material Preparation & Tolerancing: Practice machining carbon steel, stainless steel alloys, and bronzes to strict, repeatable tolerances of ±0.001" to ±0.002" during your fundamental training phase.
Shop Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a pristine, organized workstation. Safely operate overhead rigging and cranes for heavy material handling, and perform routine preventative maintenance on machine tools.
Education/Aptitude: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of coursework in Computer Integrated Machining, Vocational Trades, or a related field from a community college is highly preferred.
Mathematical Skill: Strong foundational shop math skills, including basic algebra, geometry, and a functional understanding of decimals and fractions.
Mechanical Inclination: Proven mechanical aptitude, a strong work ethic, and an eagerness to take constructive technical feedback from senior shop floor leaders.
Safety Focus: A disciplined commitment to safety rules, including the constant use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proper machine guarding, and situational awareness.
Ability to lift, carry, and position shop fixtures or parts weighing up to 50 lbs independently.
Capable of standing on concrete shop floors, bending, reaching, and moving continuously throughout an 8-to-10 hour shift.
Comfortable working in a heavy industrial shop environment alongside humming machinery and active repair bays.
This position offers a clear, structured career path from Junior Machinist to fully independent Machinist II and Senior Master roles. Triosim provides a comprehensive benefits package to support your long-term growth:
