Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Technician with at least 3 years of hands-on manufacturing quality experience to support production lines, enforce ISO 9001 QMS requirements, and manage non-conformance reporting and corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections for matboard (dimensional, surface, color, finish) using calipers, micrometers, gloss meters, and moisture analyzers.
- Create, investigate, and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs); contain nonconforming material and lead root-cause analysis (5 Whys, fishbone).
- Drive CAPA activities: define corrective actions, assign owners, verify implementation and effectiveness.
- Support and maintain ISO 9001:2015 QMS activities, including internal audit support, document control, and record keeping.
- Collect and analyze SPC data (basis weight, caliper, moisture, coating thickness); generate control charts and initiate corrective actions.
- Calibrate and verify inspection/test equipment; maintain calibration and traceability records.
- Prepare and update inspection instructions, sampling plans, SOPs, and quality documentation to meet customer specifications.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and suppliers to resolve material/process issues and reduce scrap.
- Support customer complaint resolution, sample evaluation, and returns/rework processes.
- Track quality KPIs (NCRs, scrap rate, PPM) and participate in continuous improvement activities (Kaizen).
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ quality experience in a manufacturing environment; matboard/paper converting experience strongly preferred.
- Proven experience managing NCRs/NCR logs, CAPA processes, and performing root-cause analysis.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 requirements and QMS practices.
- Proficient with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gloss meters, moisture analyzers) and SPC fundamentals.
- Strong documentation skills and experience with electronic document control/quality management systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and effective communication.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certificate, associate degree, or quality certification (ASQ CQT, ISO internal auditor) preferred.
Working Conditions
- Production floor environment; PPE required. Exposure to dust, rollers, and machinery. Standing and moderate lifting required.
