Duties/Responsibilities:
The Junior Staff Accountant supports the high-volume Accounting Department by maintaining accurate financial records, performing account reconciliations, assisting with month-end close activities for the Club's operations, including golf, food and beverage, marina, real estate, and member services. This position works closely with Controllers and department leaders to ensure financial accuracy and overall support of the Club's strategic and operational goals.
Major responsibilities:
- Perform daily and monthly bank, escrow, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Prepare and post journal entries for multiple companies
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain fixed asset records and assist with depreciation schedules.
- Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Assist with monthly financial reports, account analyses, and supporting schedules.
- Monitor and review general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting policies.
- Reconcile specialized funds and accounts maintained by the Club and affiliated entities.
- Support accounting system maintenance, upgrades, and process improvements.
- Assist management with financial reporting, special projects, inventory, and operational analysis.
- Respond professionally to inquiries from members, committees, vendors, and internal departments.
- Assist with Accounts Payable and Receivable functions.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and member information.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Education/Training/Certificates/Licenses:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- 1 - 3 years of relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience (internships count).
- Fundamental understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Experience in Microsoft programs (Word, Outlook, Excel and Access).
- Prior club experience a plus.
Working Conditions:
This position is primarily an indoor office environment. Must have the mobility to move freely about the club and all POA property. Must have flexibility to bend, stoop, and reach overhead and be able to sit for several hours at a time. Be able to lift 15-20 lbs. regularly.
