OVERVIEW: The Irrigation Technician at Boca West Country Club is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the golf courses' irrigation systems across four luxurious courses. This experienced professional ensures optimal water distribution, promotes healthy turf, and supports the aesthetic and operational excellence of the golf courses through expert irrigation management.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Irrigation System Maintenance & Repair

Conduct routine inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs of irrigation systems, including valves, heads, controllers, and pumps.

Diagnose and resolve issues promptly to minimize water waste and maximize system efficiency.

Perform seasonal start-up and shut-down procedures for irrigation systems.
Installation & Upgrades

Assist in the installation of new irrigation components, upgrades, and system expansions.

Support system design modifications to improve coverage, efficiency, and water conservation.
Monitoring & System Management

Use computerized controllers and weather data to optimize watering schedules.

Regularly calibrate and test system components to ensure proper operation.

Record maintenance activities and system modifications accurately.
Water Management & Conservation

Monitor water usage and identify opportunities for conservation.

Support compliance with water usage regulations and club policies.
Tools, Equipment & Inventory Management

Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.

Track parts and supplies, and assist in inventory control.

Report equipment issues or supply shortages to supervisors.
Safety & Compliance

Follow all safety procedures and protocols during repairs and installations.

Handle chemicals, tools, and equipment safely and responsibly.

Promote environmentally sustainable irrigation practices.
Team Collaboration

Work closely with the maintenance team, grounds staff, and supervisors.

Assist with training or mentoring junior irrigation staff.

Communicate effectively about maintenance needs and project progress.
Qualifications & Requirements

Proven experience in irrigation system installation, repair, and maintenance.

Strong knowledge of irrigation controls, valves, piping, and pumps.

Ability to troubleshoot electrical and hydraulic issues.

Familiarity with computerized irrigation controllers and weather-based irrigation systems.

Valid driver’s license; certifications such as TCEQ, NCID, or equivalent are a plus.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
