This position will report directly to the Upholstery Supervisor and be responsible for the utmost quality craftsmanship of each piece of furniture passing through the assigned cell in a timely and efficiency manner with a focus on personal safety, the safety of others, and continuous improvement initiatives.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Possess desire and ambition to work safely and efficiently and report all work hazards immediately.
- Use hand tools such as air powered staple guns, pliers, staple pullers, scissors, and regulators to build top quality furniture frames.
- Work with materials such as glue, staples, and screws.
- Conduct routine maintenance of work tools and equipment.
- Examine furniture frame parts, springs, etc. to identify any defects before building.
- Use computer to pull up Framing & Springing specifications and/or details specific to the piece.
- Construct the furniture frame using glue and framing staples. Sand all corners of finished frame with hand sander.
- Construct inner suspension of furniture installing spring support system. Install cardboard, burlap, foam fast, etc., as applicable.
- Work in a cellular environment with a team of co-workers in the safest most efficient manner possible.
- Discuss complications or assembly cell slowdowns with supervisors and brainstorm solutions for increased productivity.
- Work with quality department to repair any defects.
- All other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Attention to detail
- Ability to troubleshoot to solve framing/springing problems
- Ability to use and apply basic math principles
- Ability to read and use a tape measure
- Ability to use basic measurement skills
