Reporting directly to the General Manager with a dotted line to the Chief Financial Officer, the Business Unit Sr. Accountant / Controller will function as a detail-oriented Accounting & Finance Professional, who will be responsible for daily accounting operations, detail analysis, projects, reporting and other financial matters.
Job Responsibilities:
- Close with QuickBooks Online - Lead the monthly close process using QuickBooks Online, including journal entries and monthly/annual reporting.
- Account Reconciliations - Prepare monthly bank and balance sheet account reconciliations.
- Variance Analysis - Conduct monthly variance analysis, including cost variances, and prepare supporting financial analysis for management.
- Budgeting - Perform analysis and support for the annual operating budget.
- AP/AR Leadership - Direct supporting staff responsible for accounts payable and accounts receivable. Complete weekly A/P check runs, cash application, collections, and billing discrepancy resolution.
- Cash Monitoring - Monitor daily cash activity and complete weekly cash forecasts.
- Partnership - Provide business partnership and analytical support to the General Manager and CFO.
- Cost Management - Develop and maintain costing on Bills of Material; complete monthly reports on sales and profitability.
- Tax Coordination - Process sales tax returns and manage exemption/resale certificates, through coordination with outside service provider.
- GAAP Compliance - Ensure reported results comply with GAAP and maintain knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations.
- Financial Audit - Assist with the annual financial audit.
- Process Improvement - Monitor and analyze department work to identify more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Other - Other duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online.
- 3+ years of experience independently managing the month-end close process.
- 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing business, including cost accounting.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP, budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement analysis.
- Preferred: accounting experience in e-commerce (e.g., Shopify, Amazon).
- High degree of accuracy with numerical transactions and ability to meet critical deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite tools and other software as required.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
