Overview
1880 Union Hotel is seeking experienced Event Bartenders to join our event team for weddings and private events. This role is ideal for bartenders who are professional, personable, and comfortable working full event days in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
Our events are rooted in warm, polished hospitality rather than nightlife or club service. We value calm efficiency, teamwork, and thoughtful guest interaction.
Responsibilities
- Set up, operate, and break down event bar stations
- Prepare and serve beer, wine, and cocktails according to event menus
- Engage guests in a friendly, professional manner throughout service
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area at all times
- Monitor guest consumption and follow responsible alcohol service standards
- Restock bar supplies as needed during events
- Communicate clearly with event leads and service team to ensure smooth service
- Assist with overall event flow as needed
Requirements
- Previous bartending experience (event, banquet, or high-volume preferred)
- Comfortable working weddings and private events
- Strong guest service and communication skills
- Ability to remain professional, focused, and energetic during 8–12 hour event shifts
- Ability to lift and move bar supplies (within reason)
- Valid California alcohol service certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start)
Schedule & Compensation
- Event-based scheduling (primarily weekends)
- Shifts typically range 8–12 hours per event day
- Competitive hourly pay
